How do I get the app?: Open Download, leave your email, and open the one-time link we send. On that page, click Download to start the Windows installer. The link works once and expires in a day. Mail scanners that only prefetch the link will not start the download.
SmartScreen or my antivirus blocked Setup. Is that expected?: Unsigned or newly signed builds often get a warning. If you downloaded from the email we sent, you can continue. We are not distributing through the Microsoft Store yet.
Where do my files go?: Wherever you open a workspace folder. Quizzes and decks are written next to your notes. App settings live under %APPDATA%\NoteQuiz.

Do you run the AI?: No. You add a profile: an OpenAI-compatible base URL, a model name, and a key if that host needs one. Hosted keys and local runners use the same path.
What works locally?: Anything that speaks Chat Completions — Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp server, and similar. Foundry Local is planned as a first-class profile on that same wire.
My notes leave the machine?: Only if you send them to a hosted endpoint you configured. A local runner keeps the request on your computer. We do not proxy tokens.

Is this a trial?: The first release is a preview: AI stays unlocked and we do not start the 30-day clock. A later paid build can turn gating on; preview installs then get a clean trial.
Can I paste a key anyway?: Yes. Settings still has a license box so a tester can store a key. Buy is hidden while the preview is free.
